The endpoint of any move is great, but no one likes the way there. No matter how big the space is where you currently live: you always seem to own more stuff than you thought. So let a moving company help. This leaves you with only the fun part: furnishing the new home. With these tips, you'll be over in no time and save money on the movers' hours.

Moving tip 1: Take a critical look at all your belongings

Take a close look at all your stuff, from administration to clothing and from decoration to the pantry in the kitchen. The household goods that can go before even a single box is packed are overwhelming. Old manuals, shoes with holes, and rice packs with mouse droppings: throw them in the wheelie bin. If you still have beautiful pieces of furniture you no longer use, take them to the thrift store or give them to friends for a good second life.

Moving tip 2: Everything in organized moving boxes

You can choose to have everything packed by the moving company. In that case, ensure that your household effects are already in the right room so they can be unloaded in the same room in the new home. If you pack the moving boxes yourself, label them. Start at number 1 and keep a list of what's in this box, which room the moving box should go to, and whether it contains fragile items. Also, keep track of how many boxes have to go to the kitchen, for example. If there are fifteen, they can be ordered in one load.

Proper moving box numbering

Number the moving box on the front so that the number is also visible when the boxes are stacked

Name the room with the number of boxes (living room: 1 to 15, bedrooms 16 to 20, etc.)

Also state the contents of giving your cupboards a number

         Name any fragile items

Moving tip 3: Moving materials

Moving materials such as moving boxes and moving blankets come in different sizes for a reason. Book moving boxes, for example, are small in size so that they never exceed twenty kilos. Therefore, the moving tip of the century is to transport things with the right moving materials. Clothes on a clothes rack instead of in garbage bags and the contents of drawers neatly in a box and not in the drawer itself. You put the heaviest objects at the bottom, and important papers go in your handbag just like keys. Arrange a chilled packaging box with the cooling pack to store your drinks and snacks for moving day.

Extra tip:

You can also purchase a binder with pockets. Take the furniture apart, number the parts uniquely and add the screws. Do you still have the manual? Put this in the folder as well. In no time, all pieces of furniture will be neatly assembled in their new place.

Moving tip 4: Moving furniture

In addition to all the small items, the furniture must also be taken to the new home. Check here first what you want to take with you. If the coffee table is replaced, find a home for the old one. Friends, acquaintances and second-hand shops are happy to pick it up. Then start disassembling the items. Carefully remove all screws with an electric screwdriver and place them in a sandwich bag. When the piece of furniture is apart, stick the small parts in the bag to, for example, the leg or the furniture door.
